I am Malaysian-born, New Zealand-raised, and Australian-based! If that's not mixed you enough, I'm part Indian, Chinese, Irish, and Portuguese. Just call me a salad; mixed and confused!
I grew up in a Christian household where I learnt about Jesus and saw my parents on the worship team, teaching Bible studies and going on mission trips on one hand, while experiencing domestic violence towards me and my mum on the other.
My earliest memories from the age of 2 was of my dad violently beating me and verbally and emotionally abusing me as well. Added to all this, I was diagnosed with ADHD and severe dyslexia which my dad did not want to acknowledge.
Suffice to say, I grew up with all the issues you can name - daddy issues, trust issues, self-esteem issues - the list is long.
But God is good! At the age of 14, I encountered God when He miraculously delivered me from dyslexia within a week of me getting saved. I kid you not, I have had zero reading challenges since and even went to uni, started and sold a start-up, had multiple leadership roles, and now consult in the legal industry!
I founded a shoe company called Rebekah Craig footwear when I was 23, and simultaneously re-launched the NZ Chapter of JCI New Zealand starting as the Secretary-General and becoming National President. I represented the NZ government to speak about investing in NZ start-ups at the World Business Angel's Investmsnt forum in Instanbul, and spoke at many business and young professionals events. All these experiences led me to consider how I was investing into His kingdom rather than seeking my own success and glory.
There are many more stories I will share about how God has delivered me, softened my heart, taught me, trained me, rebuked me, in the areas of relationships, career, health, family, my worldview, and more. And it has led me to say time again, "better is one day in your courts than 1000 elsewhere."
I have a burden and responsibility to share what I have learnt and am still learning about being Christ's disciple so that we can walk in the freedom He died to give us, and be light in the darkness.
I will be sharing through my blog posts and also available for individual and group discipleship/coaching sessions, and speaking events.
God bless you x
